Staff

Shelley has been pastor of Hillside for over 25 years. He and his wife, Sally, are from Nebraska, but moved to Chicago for his Master's Degree from Wheaton. They came to Berks County with their three children in 1986, after ministries in Illinois and Tennessee. His interests include archaeology, woodworking and prison ministry. Sally is a retired 3rd grade teacher at Conrad Weiser East Elementary School.

Darlene Dassy has been coming to Hillside Church since July 2006. She resides around the corner from the church with her husband, Chip, and their two sons, Shane and Colin. Previous to moving to Berks County in September 2005, Darlene and her family lived in Harleysville, Montgomery County for 14+ years. Darlene was born and raised in Norristown, PA.

Darlene is self-employed as a Professional Resume Writer & Job Search Coach and is very passionate about her career and enjoys “making a difference” in the lives of her clients! Previous to that, she worked for many years in marketing, administration, and quality control within the financial services industry. Shelley felt her administrative background would lend itself well at the church and she has been coordinating and putting together all aspects of the weekly bulletin since January 2008.

Having grown up in the Catholic religion, Darlene needed a more contemporary and intimate church environment and quickly knew God was calling her to be part of the Hillside family.

 Keith has been at Hillside since 1996. He has been married to his wife Deb for 22 years. He is currently serving as an Elder at Hillside. He is involved in our Spanish Bible study, he actively pastors and disciples members of our congregation, he is involved in prison ministry, and he leads a Bible study at the New Person Center halfway house in Reading. Keith is active in short term mission trips and leads HCC HOPE Missions Southeast.   Keith is also on the board of Diamond Willow Ministries, a mission to the Crow Creek reservation in South Dakota.

Kresten is married to Sarah and has 2 daughters, Ashley and Abigail. Sarah is originally from the Dominican Republic, and with Kresten, they work together to lead the Spanish Ministry here at Hillside.  Kresten has been part of the Churches of Christ / Christan Churches most of his life, and has been a member at Hillside for five years.  Ouside of the Spanish Ministry, Kresten is involved in the audio/visual ministry and the men's leadership group.

Kevin came on as an elder at Hillside in 2013. He is married to Angie and has six kids, Alex, Tia, Taylor, Drew, Ani, and Dawson.  He also has one grandchild Jayden.  Kevin has been a member at Hillside for many years, and is involved in a little bit of everything from youth to teaching to much of our behind the scenes work.
